- Wear your retainer or night guard! Composite bonding can break if you grind your teeth at night and put undue pressure on the teeth so always remember to wear your guard when sleeping.
- Ensure you maintain excellent oral hygiene. Make sure you are brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, and use interdental brushes between the teeth! Your dentist or hygienist can give recommendations for the size of interdental brush to use. Also remember to book regular visits with your dentist and hygienist. - Stop bad habits, such as nail biting, lip chewing or opening packets with your teeth! These habits will easily cause your bonding to chip.
- Be mindful of the foods you are eating and how you eat them. Chicken wings on the bone and eating an apple whole can put pressure on the composite which can cause it to break. Try cutting fruit into slices and avoiding very hard foods such as chicken bones.
