The Treatment Process
01. Consultation
We will discuss your areas of concern and desired treatment outcomes, as well as taking a digital scan of your teeth and x-rays. You can ask any questions you have, and your clinician will begin to form a plan for your treatment.
02. Treatment
You will usually be with us for around 1 hour, however the treatment often doesn’t take this long. Sometimes, your dentist will split the appointment into two shorter appointments. Once the infection has been removed, your dentist will seal the tooth with a filling.
03. Follow up
Sometimes, root treated teeth will require crowning as they can become brittle. Your dentist will discuss your options with you and advise you on the best course of treatment.

You will receive local anaesthetic before the treatment starts to ensure the area is numb. The dentist will place a rubber sheet around the tooth they are treating to help reduce the risk of any materials or equipment dropping into your mouth, and to improve their view of the area being treated. The treatment will feel similar to having a filling done, during and after the procedure.
Sometimes, the tooth can become brittle and discolour after being root canal treated. Your dentist may therefore recommend having a crown placed on the tooth to help preserve its structure and to improve the appearance if it is in the aesthetic zone of the mouth. Discuss this with your dentist and ask for treatment options.
