Composite Bonding
What Is THE TREATMENT?
Composite bonding is the process of applying tooth coloured filling material (composite) to the surface of teeth to change the shape, size and colour. Composite edge bonding is where composite is added to the edges of the tooth to make them look more uniform and repair small chips or imperfections of the teeth. The process does not damage the tooth, and usually, no changes to the original tooth structure are required.
Composite bonding is suitable for repairing chipped teeth, help to improve the appearance of stains and general wear, and can be used to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of teeth.

Our clinicians combine top level training with experience and skill to ensure we provide high level results for our patients. We aim to deliver natural looking smiles, that complement and enhance your existing features.
The Treatment Process
01. Scan
The dentist will take a 3D scan of your teeth and discuss with you the areas you are looking to improve.
02. Treatment Planning
Your dentist will plan your case. They can identify whether you are wanting composite veneers, that cover the full front of the tooth, or composite edge bonding, that sit on the edges of the teeth to make more subtle changes.
In some cases, your clinician will plan your case with dental technicians using digital smile planning software. We can also do a trial smile, where temporary material is placed on your teeth so you can ‘try in’ your new smile.
If you are wanting any other treatment, such as teeth whitening, we will plan the timeline of your treatment. Whitening will need to be done before any composite is placed.
03. Place
At this appointment, your dentist will place the composite. This appointment can take a few hours, depending on how many teeth are being bonded.

My wife and I have been delighted with the care and attention we have received. Updated Jan/2026 - The quality of care and treatment continues to be first class. Today’s treatment is very hi tech and everything from scans to implants are carried out on site. Today’s treatment is incredibly different and so much better than it was even a few years ago and I have 23 years experience of implant treatment! Treatment plans are carefully discussed without any pressure to commit, the follow up and after care is second to none. I feel very lucky to be in the hands of Faisal and his team. Thank you all. Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend you attend for a free consultation if you are considering composite bonding, so the dentist can discuss your treatment options with you and assess whether you are a good candidate for composite bonding. Some patients may require additional treatment, such as Invisalign before they can have composite bonding to ensure the teeth are in the correct position for treatment. Other treatment options include Emax veneers, which can be placed without any preparation to the tooth and have a lifespan of 15+ years.
Composite bonding is considered to be a permanent restoration of the teeth, however the longevity of the treatment can vary from person to person. Good oral hygiene and regular care will ensure the best longevity of the material. The average lifespan is 5-10 years, with occasional maintenance required.
You will need to wear a retainer at night to help prevent any chips from happening due to clenching your teeth whilst asleep.
We recommend regular appointments with our hygiene therapist to ensure your teeth and gums are kept healthy. This can also help to prevent stains from forming on the composite.
To prevent your composite from chipping, you will need to avoid putting high levels of force on the teeth, for example, do not bite your nails, bite into very tough or crunchy foods using the bonded teeth, open packaging with your teeth or bite cellotape.
