01. Consultation
· In-depth clinical examination, medical history review, and 3D imaging.

02. Surgery Day
· Local anaesthetic or sedation ensures comfort.
· Any remaining failing teeth are removed.
· Insertion of the four implants using a surgical guide.

03. Initial Recovery

In most cases, yes. If your implants achieve good primary stability, we can place a temporary fixed bridge on the same day as surgery. This depends on bone quality, anatomy, and clinical assessment. Your suitability will be confirmed during your consultation.
No. The surgery is carried out using local anaesthetic, and sedation is available for added comfort.
Some swelling, bruising, or mild soreness afterwards is normal for a few days, but this is usually well-managed with recommended pain relief.
The implant surgery typically takes 2–3 hours per arch, depending on complexity. You will usually leave the clinic the same day with a full set of temporary teeth.
For the first few days, you’ll need a soft diet to allow the implants to heal undisturbed.
You can gradually return to a wider variety of foods over the next few weeks, but very hard foods should be avoided until the final bridge is fitted.
Implants need around 3–4 months to fully integrate with the bone (osseointegration).

However, very severe bone loss may require alternative implant solutions, such as zygomatic implants (which Dr Richard Brookshaw is also experienced in).
Smoking does not automatically rule you out, but it does reduce implant success rates and may slow healing. Your implant surgeon will discuss how smoking affects outcomes and may recommend stopping before surgery.
