Surgical / Wisdom Tooth Extractions

What Is THE TREATMENT?

Your dentist may recommend a tooth is extracted if it is badly decayed or damaged. Your dentist might tell you that this will need to be a surgical extraction if:

– The tooth is below or only partially through the gum
– The tooth is broken or cracked below the gum line
– The tooth has curved or long, complicated roots

We can also offer soft tissue biopsies, cyst removal and Frenectomy under local anaesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are several ways to replace missing teeth, including dental implants, bridges and dentures. Your dentist can discuss your options with you at your appointment, or get in touch to book a free consultation with one of our clinicians.

You must keep the site clean. Avoid mouthwash, hot food and drink and strenuous activity for the first 24 hours. Avoid brushing the area directly so as not to dislodge the blood clot in the socket. Take any medication as prescribed, and avoid smoking. Take painkillers as required.

You will need to wear a retainer at night to help prevent any chips from happening due to clenching your teeth whilst asleep.

We recommend regular appointments with our hygiene therapist to ensure your teeth and gums are kept healthy. This can also help to prevent stains from forming on the composite.

To prevent your composite from chipping, you will need to avoid putting high levels of force on the teeth, for example, do not bite your nails, bite into very tough or crunchy foods using the bonded teeth, open packaging with your teeth or bite cellotape.
